How would you feel if you gave someone a gift and that person received it with a blank look, never uttering a word?
Imagine how you would feel about gifting such a person again. If you are anything like myself, you will never give that person a gift again.
In retrospect, imagine if the reverse was the case. Imagine if you gave someone a gift and that person fell to the ground in appreciation or gave a heartfelt vote of thanks.
Perhaps such a person burst into tears of joy and embraces you?
Like it or not, you are most likely to gift such a person again. Why? Because that person showed appreciation for what was given.
Oftentimes, we get so used to God’s provisions, blessings and intervention that we deem it normal, forgetting to thank our Father, the giver of all things.
We get so caught up in life, achieving milestones, and everything else that we forget the simple but powerful act of gratitude. We take things God has generously provided and given with a strong sense of entitlement.
Ask yourself:
When was the last time I took time to genuinely thank God for all he has done?
Have you been so caught up in the things you are yet to receive from God that you fail to thank him for things he has already done?
We are enjoined to count our blessings and name them one by one. Truly, you’ll be surprised of the many things God has done.
For most of us, God has been so generous that when we step back and see his powerful hand in our lives, nothing will be sufficient enough to communicate our gratitude.
The Bible says it is a good thing to thank the Lord. Which automatically makes it a bad thing to be ungrateful to the Lord.
Again, the Bible says, “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.”
In simple words, Let those who claim to have been visited and helped by God give a testimony of what he has done. The question is this, When was the last time you gave a testimony to God’s goodness and faithfulness towards you?
Starting from the testimony of your salvation. Creating awareness of how God has changed your life by sharing with others and showing them through your life that they can also be beneficiaries of the life of Christ.
Spreading the good news and leading others to Jesus. “Freely you received, freely give.” Or sharing that great or seemingly small thing God has done for you. It is a way of expressing your gratitude to the Father who has done marvellous things for you.
A little thing you can do in comparison to the great things God has done for you.
Today’s blog post is a charge, as well as a warning. God is not mocked, whatever a man sows, he shall reap. Just like you would naturally choose to stop giving gifts to an ungrateful person, God can choose to withhold his gifts if they are not appreciated and well received.
It is God’s will that the testimony he has given you will bring others to him and glorify his name. When you sit on your testimonies, you limit God and confine his move.
One testimony is capable of saving a nation from God’s wrath. One testimony can be used to bring hope, succour, and solution to people who are lost and pondering the existence of God.
Do not be a hindrance to God’s project on earth. Be grateful for the new life you have and use it to save others. Bring them into the kingdom and introduce Jesus to them.
The best testimony is the testimony of a true witness. The testimony of the good news of Jesus’ suffering, death and resurrection. The testimony of the new life Christ offers and the hope of eternal life.
Let this be a heart check towards us. Go back to the ministry of Soul Winning. Share your testimony and compel all to come to Jesus. Do it with your heart and you will never regret it.
If you think there is nothing to be thankful about, then thank God you are reading this post. Thank God you have a gadget that enables you to read this blog. Thank God for the internet, seeing eyes, and the ability to read.
Thank God that you have blood pumping through your veins and your heart is still beating. Thank God for the breath in your lungs and many other basic things you have.
Just thank God.
Remember, when you thank a great man for what he has done, he will do more. Perhaps the reason for your unanswered prayer is that you have failed to appreciate what God has done.
Get out of your way, lay aside those issues and enter his gates with thanksgiving. Go to the Lord with praise. (Psalm 100:4-5)
A little secret? When you indoctrinate the lifestyle of thanking God from the depths of your heart, and without ulterior motives, There is no length, height, or depth God cannot go for you.
There is no end to the things he will give you. (Genesis 24:1)
A grateful person will always obtain favour from God, who will break protocols for such a person. The Lord will be quick to attend to such a person’s prayers and supplications because it will always come with the sweet savour of thanksgiving.
Instead of murmuring and picking offence with God, Choose the way of thanksgiving. And no matter the situation, you will always come up top.
To conclude this post, here are a few reasons you must never lose touch of gratitude as a child of God;
1. It makes room for more blessings.
2. It makes you dear and close to the heart of God.
3. It pleases God and brings glory to his name.
4. It shows respect and regard for God.
I pray that the Lord shows us mercy for all our habits of ingratitude and blesses us with the spirit of gratitude and a heart of thanksgiving towards him at all times.
