Have you been having a hard time praying? Or do you have this deeply rooted urge to pray but can’t seem to find the strength to enter into the deep realms of prayer?

Perhaps you’ve noticed your prayer life has become a shadow of what it used to be, and you find yourself struggling to enjoy and dwell in the secret place of prayers?

If that is your description, read through to the end!

Luke 18:1 – ” And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;”

As Christians, we are expected to be prayerful. When we pray, we are able to communicate with our heavenly father, and exercise the powers we have in our possession.

Luke 10:19 – “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

The moment you realize you are having a hard time communicating with God, and exercising our spirit man via prayers, we must understand that the devil is at work, and refuse to fall cheaply for his attempts to seduce us out of what really matters.

Ephesians 6:12 – “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

The devil is ever seeking to kill, steal and destroy. Most importantly, he seeks to deal with any professed child of God that gives him an opportunity to fulfill his wicked enterprise.

Armed with this knowledge, here are some vital reasons why you MUST pray especially when you don’t feel like praying:

1. THE BIBLE COMMANDS US TO PRAY:

1 Thessalonians 5:17 – “Pray without ceasing.”

The Bible, which is the written word of God, has admonished us to pray without ceasing. As children of God, we are called to a life of prayers and supplication.

Ephesians 6:18 – ” Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

The bible remains the yardstick that measures how we operate in the kingdom in order to be blessed as children of God. When we pray, we are doing the will of our father.

2. WE DON’T FALL PREY TO THE DEVIL:

Matthew 26:41 – “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

God, through the bible, has alerted us to the need to pray in order to overcome our enemy – the devil. We should know that the devil never rests, he is always looking for whom to kill, to steal from, or to destroy.

1 Peter 5:8 – “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”

Therefore, we must engage in effective prayers in order to combat the fiery darts of the wicked.

3 TO RECEIVE FROM GOD:

Matthew 7:7 – “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”

As a true christian, our sufficiency is of God. This truth makes us understand that in order to receive the blessings or provision we so desire, we must ask it from God.

Psalm 2:8 – ” Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.”

The only proven way of communicating our needs to God is through prayers; When we fail to pray, we hinder ourselves from receiving the due blessings we are entitled to as God’s people.

Remember, a closed mouth is a closed destiny. God is waiting for you to ask him anything in prayers, ask and you shall surely receive.

4. TO RESTRUCTURE THINGS IN THE SPIRIT REALM:

As we journey through our life of faith in God, situations that begs the intervention of God are bound to come our way. Sometimes it could be a financial crisis, ill health, roadblocks, spiritual oppositions, etc.

It’s only through prayers we can address such situations, avert crisis, and reposition our lives for victory through Jesus. When we fail to pray it poses a threat to our living a victorious or fulfilled life in Jesus.

5. TO DRAW AND RETAIN THE PRESENCE OF GOD:

A prayerless christian cannot retain the power and presence of God. Praying draws you closer to the father, and keeps you always connected to the Holy Spirit.

For example, the Holy Ghost came upon the early church when they were praying in the upper room, on that day of pentecost.

Acts 2:4 – “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

After that great visitation, they were able to produce greater results as they continued in the ministry of prayer and the word.

6 TO EDIFY OR STIR UP YOUR SPIRIT:

When we carry out spiritual exercises like praying, we build up stamina in the spirit and edify ourselves for the journey ahead. Through prayers, we are able to put on the whole armor of God, call things into existence and be like our father in heaven.

Note: Having known these important reasons, you must resist the devil and reignite the fire of prayer in your life. Don’t entertain any excuses, rise up and pray through to your victory!

Are you feeling discouraged? Maybe your life hasn’t been at its best in recent times? You can change your world through prayers!

James 5:16b – “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

God is looking for your prayers in order to turn that situation around. Don’t disappoint him!

2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Remember, a prayerful christian is a powerful Christian! Receive the fire of effective and fervent prayers now in Jesus name.
