Woman with Assignment Podcast – S1: EP 4

In today’s blog post, God intends to bring His perspective on the topic of fear.

Throughout the Bible, we see God admonishing His people against fear, and in today’s message, God intends to bring clarity on the topic to enable us to walk without stumbling.

First and foremost, fear is not of God.

The Bible expressly states that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but a sound mind. This gives us the understanding that fear, in its nature, is not from God.

By consequence, we also learn that fear is from the devil. We just settle it as a fact that fear is the playground of the devil. It is the prison in which he places unsuspecting believers in captivity.

With that said, we go forward to explain why fear is not of God.

Firstly, it is a manifestation of doubt. In most cases, fear can be a manifestation of lack of faith in God. The devil will always try to make the unsuspecting believer blind to the power of God in the face of harsh situations.

The devil will plant seeds of fear in one’s heart in order to ignore the potent power of God and enslave the people of God.

This is why we should never give place to fear nor the antics of the devil that make us forget or undermine God.

Fear can also show up as a manifestation of lack of faith despite God showing up in past troubles.

A careful study of the Exodus of the children of Israel and their journey in the wilderness shows how fear can make one forget the previous kindness of God and even sin against Him by lack of faith.

It is also worthy to note that as a young Christian, God will walk us through the process of gaining faith in Him by earning our trust and helping us overcome challenges and trials.

However, as we grow in God and His purposes, He expects and demands a level of faith that is equivalent to His investment throughout our faith journey.

In consequence, when we become mature and fail to produce Bible faith as He requires of our growth, it could be counted as unrighteousness and sin against God which can incur His wrath.

The story of Moses is a typical example of how costly a failure to trust God and obey His words, even in tough circumstances, can incur punishments.

This is because before God brings us into certain seasons, He has invested certain graces in our lives and, as a result, expects certain levels of faith.

In conclusion, the only acceptable and recommended fear we should have as Christians is the fear of God. The Bible admonishes us to fear the Lord and keep His commandments as it is the whole duty of man (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

So therefore, we must banish fear from our hearts and obtain grace to fear God and Him alone.

I pray that God grants us grace to trust Him, fear Him, and keep His commandments always in Jesus’ name.

Yet to give your life to Christ? Say this prayer and mean it from the depth of your heart:

“Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins and confess all my evil. I am sorry for all my sins, and I pray that You cleanse me by Your blood and give me a new beginning.”

“I accept You as my Lord and Savior, and I pray that the power of sin is broken over my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Did you say that prayer? Congratulations! Heaven rejoices.
