The word ‘separate‘ means to be distinct, unconnected and set apart.
In today’s article, we shall be learning the practical ways in which we can obey God’s directive to be set apart from the world in the right way.
As Christians, we are called to leave our father and mother, just like Abraham, and step out of life as we know it, to birth the purposes of God here on earth.
The concept of being set apart is very vital in the life of every Christian in order to truly know, understand and come into God’s will.
However, in our world today, being set apart could be misunderstood and miscommunicated in such a way that it fosters enmity, hatred and disunity among a people.
Today’s blog post aims to show us God’s perspective on what it means to be set apart and separate in our world today.
Before we go on, it is important to establish that separation is God’s method of ensuring we are not contaminated with the world.
However, a bad execution of the separation principle can do more harm than good. Which begs the question,
How do we separate from the world in the right way?
1. CONTACT WITHOUT CONTAMINATION.
We must trust God for the grace to be able to make contact without contamination.
For example, we might have family members, work colleagues, or schoolmates that we are forced to interact with on a daily basis who do not share the same faith with us.
What do we do then?
It is not right to banish those people to condemnation in our hearts or actively refuse to interact with them because of the difference in faith.
Instead, we should love them and be SEPARATE. Or in other words, distinct. We must set boundaries and stick to them. We must stand on our faith and refuse any manner of compromise.
That way, we can make contact without contamination.
2. PLACE GOD FIRST AND BE LED BY HIS SPIRIT:
Another way to be SEPARATE and uncontaminated in the world today is to place God as the topmost and final level of making decisions.
We must be guided by God’s Spirit at all times in order to remain on track. When we are led by God’s Spirit, He checkmates our hearts and ensures that we are standing on the faith no matter the situation.
3. LET THE HOLY SPIRIT DO THE CONVICTION.
If you find yourself in a place where you are surrounded by people who do not share the faith with you, we must make sure that while we witness for Christ, we do not go the extra mile to place ourselves in situations that could cause us to lose our footing or be contaminated.
We do not want to go ahead of ourselves to wine and dine with the world in the name of trying to win them over in order not to become a casualty.
Always remember that you can preach and share God’s word, but ultimately, it is the Holy Spirit that will do the convincing.
4. BE LOVING AND LET YOUR LIFE PREACH CHRIST.
As we journey through life and destiny, we should ensure we live exemplary lives that befit lovers and followers of Christ.
We should make sure that our lives showcase Jesus no matter where we are. That way, we can be able to win souls for God’s kingdom while maintaining a set apart life.
Because actions will always speak louder than words.
I pray that God grants us grace to live distinct, Christ-centered lives here on earth, and witness effectively for His kingdom in Jesus name. Amen.
Yet to give your life to Christ? Say this prayer and mean it from the depth of your heart.
“Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins and confess all my evil. I am sorry for all my sins and I pray that you cleanse me by your blood and give me a new beginning.”
“I accept you as my Lord and Savior, and I pray that the power of sin is broken over my life in Jesus name. Amen.”
Did you say that prayer? Congratulations! Heaven rejoices.
