Today’s title is a very controversial one.

We intend to bring God’s perspective to the entire discourse with hopes to guide us as we journey with God.

The first thing we must know is that God is a loving Father, and anything He says or directs is never for His good but ours.

When it comes to our consecration and growth in the Spirit, God does not joke and will do anything and everything to ensure that every Christian is guided to every good work – especially the things that will make for our victory and prosperity in our walk with Jesus.

Now back to the question: Should a Christian watch secular movies? I’ll answer you with some questions I hope will throw more light on the topic.

I urge you to meditate on these questions and truly ponder on them by the Spirit to get your answers.

The first question is this – What is the end game of such movies?

I’m talking about the romances, the horrors, Hollywood and the rest. If you asked me, I’d say entertainment.

A lot of people indulge in these types of content for the sole purpose of entertainment. No pressure there.

While it’s not bad in itself, as Christians, we are urged to be mindful of the things we expose ourselves to – most especially young Christians who are still learning and understanding the Christian life.

Our flesh is something we fight to bring to submission every single day. And when we open ourselves to these kinds of movies, content, music (such that does not have Christ at the center), we risk making contact with strange spirits, doctrines, and lifestyles that are not in sync or consistent with the Scripture.

We stand the risk of diluting, diffusing, and polluting what we have in Christ – which is not God’s plan for us.

As humans, we are prone to pick up on the bad things more than the good. And as Christians who strive to do and obey the will of God, we cannot afford to be exposed to such things.

We must consecrate ourselves wholly to Him, and most times, this might look like separating ourselves from these sorts of things just to protect what you have and ensure that God’s Word remains the blueprint of our lives.

Another reason is that sometimes, after we watch these movies or even listen to the music, we expose ourselves to certain ideologies that are not in alignment with God’s will for us.

You might be asking, what do we watch?

Thanks to the emergence of quality Christian movies, we can see that God did not leave us desolate.

To end this piece, I recommend every child of God looking to grow or watch movies safely and without the fear of contamination, to opt for Christian content.

Not only are they inspired from God, but they edify, build, and instill values that are profitable to our Christian walk and experience with God. Which is what we all need, right?

You can begin your Christian movie marathon by checking out some of the top Christian film producers.

You can check out the likes of The K Brothers, The Winlos, Mount Zion Productions and edify yourselves with intricately woven Christian movies that will leave a lasting impact in your life.

Thank me later!

Yet to give your life to Christ?

Say this prayer and mean it from the depth of your heart:

“Almighty God, I come before You in the name of Jesus. Lord, I confess that I am a sinner and ask for Your mercy.”

“I pray that You cancel my name from the book of death, and write my name in the book of life. Give me power to sin no more and grace to live a Christian life.”

“I decree that the yoke of sin is broken over my life, and I accept Jesus into my life as Lord and Savior.”

“I am a child of God.”
