Do you feel like God is far from you?

Are you seeking a deeper relationship with God?

Perhaps an intimate relationship where you can feel the unmistakable presence of the spirit of God? If this is you, today’s blog entry is an answer to your heart’s desires and prayers.

In today’s blog post, we shall be discussing the ways in which we can become closer to God and sustain the precious Holy Spirit as we journey through our relationship with God.

1. PRAYER –

Ask yourself: How is your prayer life?

Go ahead and rate it from 1-10 with all sincerity. Write it down in the assessment and reflect on it deeply with all responsibility.

God is a spirit, one that we contact through prayers. Just like the relationship between humans need constant communication to flourish, so does our relationship with God.

Look at it from this perspective. When you have a friend, you talk to them daily, tell them things, seek their opinions and enjoy every moment with them.

We should treat our relationship with God in the same manner. We must pray ceaselessly, tell God everything, seek his counsel and opinions before taking any decision and enjoy every moment spent with him.

When you put this into practice, the spirit of God draws closer and initiates a partnership, friendship and relationship that would change your life.

2. FASTING –

Another way of drawing closer to God is by fasting. When we fast rightly, we become dead to sin and the flesh. When we carry out fasting exercises with fervent prayers and the word, we attract the spirit of God who will easily make contact with us because we have emptied ourselves in pursuit of God.

The Bible says that he has not called the seed of Jacob to seek him in vain. The Bible also says that when we seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, every other thing shall be added. (Matthew 6:33)

Engaging in fasting is a deliberate and intentional act of seeking the face of God with consecration. God always reward such acts by sending his spirit and drawing us closer to Himself.

3. STUDY THE WORD –

Anyone who wants to draw close to God must never ignore the written word of God. The Bible contains written epistles from men, inspired by the spirit to help our knowledge of God.

When you search through the Bible, and prayerfully ask God to teach you his word, The spirit of God Joins you in that exercise and teaches you the word mysteries. At the end of that session of learning and impaction, such a person would leave that quiet time with a heart closer to God.

In a nutshell, any believer who seeks to have a robust relationship with God cannot ignore the study of the word.

4. FELLOWSHIP –

Anyone who wants to hear God and be closer to him must never forsake the assembly of the brethren. The Bible says that where two or three are gathered in his name, he is in the midst of them.

It is no accident that during fellowships, people are caught up in moments of encounters, visitations from God, freedom from captivity and feasts of wisdom.

Some would argue that all of these things can be gotten in a personal walk with God but there is something about dwelling in the house of God that makes the difference.

Hence, the psalmist was always happy to go into the house of God. So much so he was willing to be a doorman at the house of God. (Psalm 84:10)

If you want to experience a deep, profound and exciting experience of the presence of God, best believe you should not miss the solemn assembly of God’s people.

5. WORK AND COMMITMENT –

Matthew 16:15 – Go into the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

When you are committed to the work of God, best believe that the spirit of God will always be with you. Remember, Jesus told us that his meat is to do the will of the Father and finish his work. (John 4:34)

He also testified that the father did not leave him alone because he did what pleased him. (John 8:29) The heartbeat of God is evangelism and soul-winning.

When you devote yourself to the work of God and advance his end-time project with a pure heart, you gain a spot in the heart of God. I pray that the Lord helps you to put these steps into action and begin a new and improved relationship with the Father.
