The concept of time and season is indispensable to every living thing. As the saying goes, to everything there is a time and a season to everything under the face of the earth.
Our God is the originator of time. (Genesis 1:3-6) We see that through his creations of day, night, winter, summer, etc. Every individual, believer or group needs to know the season of life they are in – to acquire the required knowledge to navigate through that season and make the best of it.
This means that to lead prosperous lives in God, we must seek knowledge of God to know where we are, what we ought to be doing and how to make the most of the season for maximum benefit to ourselves and the world around us.
For example, as a newborn child, there is only so much one can do. In that season of life, they are usually incubated by the parent who attends to all their needs and helps them grow the senses God has deposited within them.
You can see this in play in our spiritual life. When we are newly converted, we have almost zero responsibility and enjoy the care, attention and help from the father – who at that time, prepares us for the world to come, ensuring that we are fed with the right meal that suits our level to sharpen our spiritual senses.
Likewise, when that child grows to be a young boy or girl, they are sent to school, exposing them to knowledge that will help them become useful in life, themselves and society at large.
This can come into play when God equips us with knowledge-based keys that help us to lead a prosperous and victorious life in him, giving us insights into who we are and what levels we can attain through his word.
After being groomed and properly trained into an adult, they are sent to the world with high hopes by their parents who have done their part and invested heavily to make sure they have what it takes to conquer the world.
This season is usually a breaking point for that individual who is sent alone but with the acquired skillset, knowledge and guidance of the Holy Spirit. You can imagine the victory such a person will get if they have been truly impacted as expected during the set times and seasons of life.
On the other hand, imagine if the reverse was the case and such a person was not privy to the wholesome nurturing as a child. Or the person didn’t get the knowledge-based requirement despite being led by God.
Or if such a child/believer refuses to deploy those strategies learnt in the seasons of his life to make an impact. Such a situation will lead to an unavoidable defeat in life and destiny.
As a believer, it is therefore important that we know what times we are and do what is needful for the time, to avoid living a defeated life and to fulfill the high expectations the Father has of us. (Jeremiah 29:11)
Just like there is a time to sow and a time to reap, we must make sure that we are doing the right things at the right time, because doing the right things at the wrong time is a sign of purposelessness and a recipe for failure and disaster.
Imagine if a child a day old child is fed with Alcohol instead of breast milk. Or a child who is supposed to be in school decides to go into business at a tender age. The basic things of life that should help them conquer their world would not be acquired and it will lead them to a bad end.
Today the Lord wants every believer to work with the times he has brought us in. He wants us to ask for his guidance and wisdom. He wants us to commit to making the most of whatever season we are in life and destiny.
Below are some of the advantages of the knowledge of time and seasons in a believer’s life;
1. It makes a believer know what to do and when to do it.
2. It brings a sense of preparedness. When you know your season, you will be in readiness to make the most of it.
3. It helps one to understand, persevere and make full proof of the knowledge acquired.
4. It makes for a mature believer, ready to do exploits.
On the other hand, the disadvantages of not knowing your time and seasons are as follows;
1. You stand a chance of missing out in life and destiny.
2. It makes for a weak, careless and shallow believer.
3. A recipe for confusion, sin and such a person will be a disappointment to the father.
I pray that the Lord grants us more insights, expounds our knowledge of him, the times he has placed us, and helps us never to be a wasted investment in Jesus’ name.
